Calculate the straight-line distance between two places in miles or kilometers and estimate travel time based on your selected speed.
Your Travel Route
Distances are calculated using the Haversine formula on a spherical Earth. They are approximate great-circle distances, not driving distances, road routes, flight itineraries, or live navigation times.
Select one of the example routes or enter your own starting and destination coordinates under Advanced Options. Choose kilometers or miles, select one-way or round trip, and enter your assumed travel speed. Click Calculate Distance to view the approximate straight-line distance and theoretical travel time.
Distance formula: This calculator uses the Haversine formula to estimate the shortest surface distance between two geographic coordinates. Actual driving routes are generally longer, and real travel times depend on roads, traffic, terrain, stops, and other conditions.
